We held the Animal Moves Workshop on the first Sunday of March. In the description, Zhenya invited everyone to unleash the inner beast, but it turned out to be a very mellow body practice. If called wild, it should be done so in a soft and meditative sense. Some moves seemed natural and easy to grasp, while some were less obvious to imitate. We must have created quite some new neural connections! The workshop consisted of three parts: warm-up, main physical part and relaxing playtime at the end. We started by catching imaginary insects – the best way to warm up joints and disconnect from the everyday hustle. We continued with wavy snake moves to wake up the spine, followed by gracious wild cat moves to engage all muscles. In the main part, we covered different roll, walk and jump styles. An excerpt video with frog jumps, three-legged cat walk and hyena moves can be found on our Instagram 😉
This workshop feels like a call from previous lives: in Hinduism, the cycle of life, or samsara, encompasses the continuous process of birth, death, and rebirth. This cycle is intricately tied to the principle of karma, where the actions and intentions of individuals shape their future existence. While the ideal trajectory is believed to be upward towards higher forms of existence and, ultimately, liberation (moksha), the cycle also includes the possibility of being reborn as an animal or even a plant.
However, being reborn as an animal is not seen as a permanent state but rather a phase in the soul's journey towards spiritual evolution. Through the experiences gained in animal form, the soul has the opportunity to learn important lessons, purify its karma, and eventually progress towards higher states of consciousness.
I enjoy seeing how the various concepts are interconnected at YODA. If you were reborn as an animal, what experiences would you like to gain? What animal would you love to be? I'd love to be a dolphin. Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
Oh, and yes! Our next workshop on Contact Improvisation will be held on Sunday this week (March 17). As the name suggests, there will be a lot of touch and interaction. Bring a friend and let's enjoy connecting with (and to) each other.
With love ❤️
